What Is The Statute Of Limitations For Personal Injury Accidents In Florida?
Transcript
The statute of limitations is a legal term used to describe the length of time after your accident in which you have to actually file your lawsuit in the appropriate court.
Generally speaking, the statute of limitations for a personal injury claim arising from a car accident or motorcycle accident or pedestrian or bicycle accident is four years from the date of the accident itself.
Now there are numerous exceptions to this rule that shorten the length of time you have to file your lawsuit in court. One of the situations involving a shortened time frame in which you have to file your lawsuit in the appropriate court after a car accident or a motor vehicle accident of any type is if the accident results in a wrongful death. In that situation you have two years from the date of accident in which to file your lawsuit in the appropriate court.
