I think the worst mistake a lawyer can make is taking on a case that he’s not qualified to handle. Over the years, I think, as a younger attorney, you’re trying to take on as many cases as possible in as many different areas of expertise as possible. But, over the years, I’ve developed a niche. That niche is personal injury and wrongful death cases. I routinely refer out cases that I don’t feel I’m qualified to take, whether that’s a business transaction or family law, or criminal defense type of matter. All we do is personal injury wrongful death cases now and I think that’s also why over the years, more and more attorneys learn of my area of practice and refer cases to me.
