Hi, this is Attorney Mike Hancock with Hancock Injury Attorneys and one of the most frequently asked questions I get from my clients, especially during an initial consultation is how long will it take to resolve my personal injury claim?
Well, that’s also one of the toughest answers to accurately answer at the very beginning because we don’t know the extent of your injuries, we don’t know when you’ll reach something called maximum medical improvement and that is the point in which you are as good as you are going to get as a result of your injuries and the doctor can then provide an opinion as to what future medical expenses you may need, what future medical treatment you may need and how much that is going to cost.
So to answer your question, generally speaking in a personal injury claim we try to resolve all of our personal injury claims within four to six months. For those that we can’t in four to six months, we usually end up filing a lawsuit and then it may take another six to eight months before it resolves.
So those are the general time frames to resolve personal injury claims we like to do it within four to six months and then sometimes it may take another six to eight months beyond that.
