The highest in the country. On average, a pedestrian was killed every two hours and injured every eight minutes in traffic crashes. 30% of the pedestrian fatalities occurred in crashes between 8 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. Almost 50% of all pedestrian fatalities occurred on the weekends. There are several causes for a large amount of pedestrians accidents around the state – including poorly maintained roads, the large number of tourists and visitors that come to Florida and a warm climate that invites people to take walks outside all year round.
