Mike Hancock Named as President & New Board of Directors Named for the 2017 Carrollwood Bar Association
Attorney Mike Hancock was recently named President of the Carrollwood Bar Association for the second year in a row. Mike is proud to represent this organization for a second term. Mike Hancock leads the 14 person board of directors who are in charge of managing all aspects of the Carrollwood Bar Association. This includes organizing prominent speakers to give presentations at monthly luncheons, many of which give the attending attorneys “CLE” or Continuing Legal Education credits they are required to obtain by the Florida Bar. Other duties of Mr. Hancock include organizing and managing various committees, planning events and programs, community outreach and membership recruitment. The board members other than Mr. Hancock include the following: Adria Beenhakker Dickey (VP) , Bob Wise (Treasurer) , Martin Bubley (Secretary), Heidi Bassett, Derek Usman, James Loper, Nancy Jacobs , Daniel Bubley ,Linda Clark, Paul Elliott, Joseph Kalish, Claire Saady and Dan Saxe; all are lawyers in the North Tampa area.
Established in 2000, the mission of the Carrollwood Bar Association is to serve its members and the residents of the Carrollwood area by fostering respect for the law, advancing the competent and ethical practice of the legal profession, and by providing programs to its members that will enhance their practice and enrich their experience in the legal profession. The Carrollwood Bar Association has contributed over $120,000 to area charities, churches and synagogues, including Operation Helping Hands, Meals on Wheels and Bay Area Legal Services. Spearheaded by Mr. Hancock, part of 2016’s charitable contributions went to another Carrollwood organization, The Community Food Pantry which serves food and groceries to over 400 families monthly with weekly and special event distribution days.
Mike Hancock graduated from St. Lawrence Catholic School and Jesuit High School in Tampa. He went on to study at the University of Florida and South Texas College of Law. Attorney Mike Hancock founded Hancock Injury Attorneys in 1996, a personal injury law firm located in Carrollwood. His wife of 29 years, Claire Hancock, is also a law partner at Hancock Injury Attorneys. Mike and Claire Hancock have been proud homeowners in Original Carrollwood since 1992. In addition, Mike served as legal counsel for the Original Carrollwood Civic Association from 2005 through 2016. Other organizations Mike Hancock is involved in include the Carrollwood Area Business Association, Florida Justice Association, Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers Association, the Hillsborough County Bar and BNI.
Attorney Mike Hancock has been practicing personal injury litigation for 28 years in which time he has earned honors such as an “AV-Preeminent” rating my Martindale-Hubbell, a “Superb/10” rating on Avvo, membership in the Million Dollar Advocated Forum, named a Florida SuperLawyer for multiple years and a “Top Rated Attorney” rating in Tampa voted on by thousands of other attorneys in Tampa Magazine.
