Hit-and-Run, Pedestrian, Bus Accident and More
In this first week of October we have noticed more and more stories of motor vehicle accidents around Tampa. The below stories are just some of what we have seen in the local news.
Car Crash Closes Intersection
The intersection of North 40th Street and East Hillsborough Avenue was closed for over 6 hours after a serious injury crash occurred. There was a large amount of debris, which contributed to the length of the closure. Two cars were involved, with the driver of one of the cars fleeing the scene of the accident. He was found close by with serious injuries and was transported to the hospital. Another person in the other vehicle was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Pedestrian Hit and Killed
Unfortunately, a pedestrian was struck by two vehicles in the early hours one morning on Hillsborough near 50th street. The crash closed the street in both directions for hours. Pedestrian accidents are becoming more and more of a problem in Tampa.
Truck Hit School Bus in St. Pete
A pick-up truck rear ended a school bus carrying 24 elementary aged children. Fortunately, no children were injured. However, police say that someone in the pick-up truck was taken to the hospital as a trauma alert. Accidents with school buses can easily happen when other drivers are not paying attention to when the bus is stopping to let off or pick up students.
Deadly Hit-And-Run in Tampa
Tragically, a pedestrian was found dead on the road after another driver happened to see him on Hillsborough near Anderson and Hoover roads. Investigators were at the scene trying to find pieces of debris left behind by the driver so that they could get some information on what kind of vehicle might have been involved. If anyone has any information, please contact the authorities.
