In a study completed by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), it was found that in two decades, 33,000 U.S. lives have been lost due to an increase in speed limits. According to Charles Farmer, IIHS Vice President for research and statistical services said, “Although fatality rates fell during the study period, they would have been much lower if not for states’ decisions to raise speed limits.”
A man who was driving along I-4 near Orlando narrowly escaped a deadly accident. A semi-truck overturned on the overpass above him, causing a huge metal pipe to fall to the highway below. It hit Jesus Escobar’s car. These accidents remind us that you might just be in the wrong place at the wrong time. We are glad Escobar, and the other driver are both okay.
