Tampa Bay’s Iconic Gasparilla Parade Returns in 2022
Arghh you ready for the biggest event of the year?!
Gasparilla is a one-of-a-kind event that only happens once per year. Except for 2021, thanks to COVID-19. This year, expect to see A LOT of pirates down by Bayshore. The City of Tampa anticipates 300,000+ people to be in attendance…
That many people in one place can create chaos, so it’s best to play it safe if you’re going to Gasparilla. Remember to stay with your group, drink plenty of water, wear sunscreen, and consume alcohol responsibly. If you plan on drinking that day, you may be wondering if you can bring alcohol to the parade. We have the answers you’re looking for!
The City of Tampa has established “wet zones” for the Seminole Hard Rock Gasparilla Pirate Fest, these areas are located along the parade route and at Curtis Hixon Park downtown.
The area highlighted in red means alcohol consumption is legal here, and the stars indicate alcohol beverage vendors.
Open Container Restrictions
So, can you carry an open container at Gasparilla? Yes, but only in the “wet zones.” You cannot carry or drink from an open container outside of the designated wet zones. Additionally, do not bring coolers or any container that is for the purpose of mass distributing alcohol. To view the full list of restrictions, click here.
The best way to have fun at Gasparilla is to plan ahead, get there early to grab a good spot and bring cash to purchase food and drinks from vendors. Have a blast, Mateys!
