A report from the US Postal Service came out with a report that showed almost 7,000 post office workers were attacked by dogs last year. US Postal Service Safety Director Linda DeCarlo said in press release, “Even good dogs have bad days. Dog bite prevention training and continuing education are important to keep pet owners, pets and those who visit homes — like letter carriers — happy and healthy.” Melissa Bain, an associate professor of animal behavior at the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine said, “When dogs tend to bite, it’s mostly because they’re fearful or they’re cornered.” Read more here.

The National Safety Council (NSC) recognizes April as Distracted Driving Awareness Month and while many ignore the warnings, the consequences can be devastating.
According to the NSC, “There is no safe way to use a cell phone while driving – even hands free. Distracted driving takes many forms, but cell phone use is at the top. Research shows the brain remains distracted for 27 seconds after dialing, changing music or sending a text using voice commands. Almost everyone has seen a driver distracted by a cell phone, but often you don’t realize that distracted driver is you.”
