Bicycle and Motorcycle Safety
Ever since the dawn of the 19th century, when the modern bicycle was invented, the roadways were always intended to be shared. But with technology getting smarter and drivers becoming more distracted and reliant on such advances, the roadways have become increasingly dangerous for those who choose to ride on two-wheeled vehicles instead of four.
Even the safest of bicycle and motorcycle riders can find themselves at risk when other drivers on the road aren’t paying attention, which is exactly why we’re promoting driver awareness to help keep our eyes out for bicycles and motorcycles.
2 Eyes Out for 2 Wheels is a movement that most everyone on the road can relate to and reminds us all to focus on the task at hand, that being to make it from point A to point B with the safety of everyone on the road as our main focus.
A recent study by the CDC showed that “over 1,000 bicyclists died and there were almost 467,000 bicycle-injuries” in the US in 2015. Even worse are the staggering 4,976 people who died in motorcycle crashes and nearly 88,000 that were injured in the same year as sited by the Insurance Information Institute (III). This is a serious issue with devastating effects and one that we all can do our part to prevent by keeping 2 eyes out for 2 wheels.
