Many personal injury law firms, particularly the largest ones, make extensive use of case managers to handle their clients' cases, individuals employed by those firms who are not licensed to practice law. Most other law firms utilize these non-lawyers to meet with their new clients initially and then "work-up" the case through litigation, with little supervision or guidance from the firm's partners.
